How Are Wildcrafted Herbs Different From Organic And Conventional Plants?

When growing the plants, they are done in three different ways - Wildcrafted, organic, and conventional way. Further, these plants are used for medicinal purposes is as essential oils or herbs.

Wildcrafted Herbs - A Short Story

Talking about the wildcrafted herbs, they are grown in nature without any human intervention. Meanwhile, they are affected by nature, the environmental conditions, other plants, sunlight, water, and much more. These factors are also called stressors which put a strain on the plants. With effect from them, the plants get a chance to develop their nutrients fully.

The benefit of using wildcrafted plants is that they help in reversing the disease. In addition to this, they are eco-friendly too.

Let us take a look at how the wildcrafted plants can protect the environment. There are some guidelines to follow while harvesting these plants.

·       Ignore the immature plants

·       Plants from compromised environments should not be harvested

·       Don’t indulge in harvesting several plants at one time

·       Industrial areas or highways that contain polluted environments should not be chosen for harvesting plants

·       Make sure to protect the surrounding environment where the plants are harvested

Following these guidelines will help in protecting the environment's ecosystem.

The Organic Herb

When it comes to organic herbs or plants, they are produced by people using controlled farming environments. The difference lies in the fact that organic plants don’t take full advantage of phytonutrients. At the same time, wildcrafted herbs do make use of the benefit.

Further, organic plants can be classified as hybridization products. Here, the term means cross-pollination of two or more plants to form a new plant. Secondly, for these plants, no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides are used. They are strictly harmful to the plants.

Growing Conventional Plants – The good & bad

The story of conventional plants is different from the organic as well as wildcrafted plants. These plants can be genetically modified; however, it affects the plant's nutrient composition. Most of the people doing farming indulge in using pesticides for better growth. It leads to an increased risk of cancer in humans.

Secondly, for good growth, the plants are modified genetically, and fertilizers are also used. Thereby the medicinal value as in the wildcrafted or organic herbs diminishes. But, the plants do get contaminated as the fertilizers are made from synthetic chemicals. It all ends up in the plants being carcinogenic.
